Thank you for sharing this detailed information, Chris.
I'm not familiar with "Pawpaw" or "Fenugreek", so I'll need to do some research.
Best wishes.

Hello there frederick,
always a pleasure to receive comments from you.
Pawpaw, you may know as papaya. Fenugreek, well I know no other name. It was and probably still is, used a lot in seed-sprout mixes in the '80/'90's, right in there with the alfalfa sprout crew. VERY strong cleanser, after a week of eating these sprouts, people can smell you coming, seriously.
Thanks again,
Regards Chris.

I read with interest this intel. My hubby has had hypertension (high blood pressure) for most of his life. We tried "faithfully" every health food mentioned here. His readings were VERY high and he finally had to surrender to medical help. The only thing that has helped him in recent years is the fact that he was diagnosed with diabetes and had to cut down on sweets and get more exercise. Not that he was obese before, but he has lost some weight, continues to exercise regularly and even though not off the BP pills yet, his Dr. says if he continues to improve, he won't have to take so many pills.

I guess what I want to say is for people to be cautious when trying natural cures for this very dangerous health condition.

Hello there larainerose,
Thank you, I have read your comments with interest and would like to add to them. I have always found it difficult to reach a good balance between out-right data/fact and personal invective, in writing articles - sometimes I leave myself out of it.

Please be aware I am not making any criticisms here -
Regarding, home/organic/natural remedies versus "white man's medicine". "Civilised" medicine is good for the quick-fix for the affliction if one can ignore repercussive or long-term ensuing damage to your body. In most cases, this sort of medcine allows one to continue functioning NOW, in order that your body has the chance to regain some momentum.

Alternative remedies have never been a quick-fix and will only work 'properly' if one's body has previously been healthy, as in diet, lifestyle, stress, etc.

Using alternative remedies is actually a lifestyle choice, often a person will not even notice any changes in their health due to habitually expecting the dramatic changes that 'commercial' treatments often afford.

This is merely my personal view and I have always believed that a 'marriage' between the two regimes to be the best of both worlds.

Apologies for the length of this missive,
Kind Regards,
Chris.

Hi Chris,
I'm sorry if I sounded like I was critical or doubted natural cures. I think that it is wonderful if they work for someone. I just meant that Will had such seriously high BP that he did need the quick fix of BP meds. I agree with you that chemical meds can and do have some terrible side affects and that it would be better if we can do it the natural way. It definitely was the quick fix Will needed at the time. We hope to get to the point where he can stop medicating.

I am following your intels and I look forward to reading more.
Best Wishes,
Laraine

Hey Laraine,
I didn't think you were being critical, more I didn't wish to appear that way myself and was attempting to add a bit more of me to the article. Believe me, I am all for the quick-fix in order to get out of immediate trouble.
In my particular case, a lot of the bought fixes don't work, most notably - pain killers. The dosage necessary is so high, that I don't take them lest I become addicted - and just endure instead.
I hope you don't mind, but I have included both our comments on the site.
With Regard,
Chris.

I usually try to stay away from meds too. I had never even taken pain killers until I had my thumb broken in a car accident. Of course that hurt! I still didn't take any pain killers but when I had the operation to repair it they sent me home with a morphine drip. (Probably that is not the correct medical name for the apparatus??)

The surgeon told me use it when my pain threshold reached about 5 as if I left it too long it would take a long time before I was comfortable again. Of course, knowing that morphine is very addictive I was a bit apprehensive about using it and thought perhaps I wouldn't need to use it at all. I asked him what the pain was like when it was a 5. He said, "Just let me put it this way .. If you reach more than 5 you'll want someone to blow your brains out."

I was a good girl and listened to the Dr. :)
